Female Sexual Dysfunction

A problem that can effect up to 40% of women, but few seek medical attention for this concern. The general definition of FSD is:

Persistent/recurring decrease in sexual desire or arousal, the difficulty/ inability to achieve an orgasm, and/ or the feeling of pain during sexual intercourse.

To further break it down, the following are subcategories of FSD: 

And these subcategories are not mutually exclusive, it is common to have an overlapping presentation within these categories.  

Multiple systems need to be considered when trying to figure out the root of FSD – physical anatomy, psychological, physiological, social-interpersonal. A multifaceted approach will be the best way to figure out the cause, and then be able to work towards a solution.
